Important Facts About Toner Refills

Written by oneself on 5:18 AM

By: Christa Kowalczyk

With the help of laser cartridges, you can save important raw materials, waste and energy. There are a lot of ways you can do this and even recycle laser cartridges.

The environmental battle cry is to “reduce, reuse and recycle!”

You can save important raw materials, waste and energy by using your laser cartridges again. In fact, there are approximately 44 million laser cartridges that are bought every year in Europe. 95% of these laser cartridges in the UK are thrown out after only one usage. Every cartridge has 1 to 2 liters of oil. It also has aluminum and steel. Every time you repeat using these cartridges, you will save these important, non-renewable resources and energy.

Almost all laser cartridges are thrown off in landfill areas. In the UK, the number has already reached 10,000 tons of material every year. The materials in the cartridge, such as plastic and other are non-biodegradable, does not decompose even for many centuries. This means that every time you reuse a cartridge, you can save on waste landfills.

Hence, it is also a good decision to reuse or refill your toner rather than replace them. This can definitely cut down on your toner cost. This is especially true once you cut down on your toner refills.

There are even companies who can provide these services for you.

You can save money by refilling your own printer. You can buy toner refill kits and do the job yourself. Replacing your printer cartridges is a bit expensive. More often, it will cost you more than the price of your printer.

Using a bottle of refill toner can fill your cartridge. It will save you up to 87%. It can be used often as well. You will be able to save more because of these toner refills. Of course, it will also depend on the kind of printer you have. It also varies on how often you need to buy these. Normally, customers can save around 50% on the price of their printer cartridges.

It is good that you can refill fax and photocopier toner cartridges also. Just don’t scrap it, restore it with fresh toner powder and it becomes easy to refill.

Here’s how:

- Just unplug and pour!

In other laser printers, fax machines as well as copiers, refilling toners is as easy as removing the filler plug. It is also as easy as opening the shutter and pouring it in with the latest funnel.

- Just unscrew, unplug and pour!

In other laser printers, before you reach the filter plug, you need to unscrew it first.

- Just melt hole and pour!

Sometimes it’s a bit harder to open the filler hole. With the use of a special tool, you can melt it and open your own filler hole within the cartridge. It only takes a few seconds for the cartridge to become filled.

- It is mess-free and quick.

It takes only few minutes to refill. The kit contains everything you need for a quick, mess-free, professional job. By using the top seals of the funnel towards the bottle, it will be very easy to have the contents poured-in.

Instructions are provided, along with detailed steps for most of the models. It also contains some information on preparing the work surface and handling the powder without mess.

Will it work?

Yes, it does! The advantage of filling this up with powder is that you won’t disturb the inner working of the cartridge.

How often?

A new or remanufactured cartridge will stand for at least another two fills before losing its quality. Those with no imaging drum can last for 5 or more fills.

Does it have good quality results?

Almost all powders are formulated for all models. They are tested and guaranteed, bringing no damage to your printers. The quality should also be the same as when it ran out the first time you filled it.

Thus, you can remain in control of the quality of your print by reusing your cartridges. Cartridge components will degrade in time. You can also decide when the time has come to find a new one. The unused powder can also be used in another cartridge.

Acer Laptops - Before You Buy, Review The Brand - How Does Aspire Differ From TravelMate Or Ferrari?

Written by oneself on 6:00 PM

By: Christophe Catesson

About Acer

Acer Inc. can be referred to be amongst the most ancient electronics companies as far as computer industry is concerned. It was founded by Stan Shih in the year 1976. Originally, it was named 'Multitech' then. 'Acer' was the name acquired later. The present scenario is such that it's a leader in the corporate world of Taiwan and as such, is the 3rd largest manufacturer of computers, followed by HP, Dell.

Products

Acer is known for giving what you robust protducts, at a cheap price, with no compromise on the quality front. The product range of Acer is inclusive of notebooks, desktops, PDA, portable tablet personal computers, display monitors, software and hardware solutions. Acer laptops and display monitors have always been on the top of different review sites and listings.

Laptops

Acer laptops have a number of variants depending upon market trend as well as technology. Series presented by Acer include Tablet PC Series, TravelMate series, Extensa series, Ferrari series, and Aspire series. The 'Acer Aspire' series is the most renowned and broadly used all through the world. All novel Gemstone variants have been highly stylish. Moreover, they come with 'High Definition Dolby Digital Sound System'. These series begin with 4520. The newest model on the hands is Acer Aspire 8920 model. Let's have a look at the currently available Acer laptops.

The Aspire and Extensa are essentially the "entry level" lines. While they are not equipped with the fastest processors or biggest hardrives, the Aspire deliver a very acceptable overall speed if you are an "average user" meaning that you are not an avid gamer or heavy database user. For that matter if most of use is web surfing, email, word processor, spreadsheet... type of activity, chances are that you would barely notice a difference with faster and more expensive laptops. One thing though, make sure you have at least 2GB of RAMs to ensure good speed; it is a mystery to me that companies still sell laptops with less than 2 GB when using Microsoft Vista, the cost saving is not worth the potential speed loss.

The TravelMate series has been designed especially for business travelers and professionals. These series would give you an extended reliability, along with light-weight notebooks with the highest securities. The TravelMate series begins with the models between 2480 and 8210. Let certain models be looked into.

The Ferrari can be considered to be one of the major hits in the laptop arena. Acer has partnered with Ferrari to deliver high-end products with exciting features and a great look. These laptops have a sporty style. Models available include Ferrari 1000, 4000, and 5000. The cost range is reported to vary between $1800 and $4000.

Conclusion

In short, Acer delivers good to great quality and its pricing strategy is very aggressive on the Aspire, Extensa and TravelMate lines. The Ferrari line is more targeted to high end users on one hand but also and maybe mostly for user who like fashionable laptops (similar in that sense to the MacBook Air users). Acer is rapidly expanding in the laptops market and will most likely prove to be formidable leader in the years to come.

Compact Samsung Q1 Ultra Q1U-CMXP Laptop

Written by oneself on 6:27 AM

By Kirk Jons

The quality and advantageous features play a very important role for me when I choose any item in the shop. The Samsung Q1 Ultra Q1U-CMXP is one of the best mini laptops I have ever seen. This mode of a laptop has a 7-inch widescreen display. Despite the fact that the screen is small, it is very clean and its colors are amazing. Watching movies on this mini laptop is a real pleasure, especially when you are on road.

The Intel Processor A100 provides a quick and stable work of this mini laptop. Because of this type of processor the Samsung laptop works quite good. A 80 GB hard drive disk is quite enough for storing all the necessary documents and files. It is very convenient when you have all the necessary documents with you.

The weight of Samsung laptop is only 1.52 pounds. As you can see, it is not heavy at all. Besides, it has a very small size and even it is possible to put it in the customer's pocket. It is an ideal item or those people who travel a lot.

Is it possible to connect to the Internet with the help of this mini laptop? Yes, it is. It is possible to connect to the Internet with the help of 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, 10/100 Ethernet, integrated HSDPA modem for cellular broadband. The connection is great and quick.
The Samsung battery works quite well. The battery life is long up to 4.5 hours is the working possibility of this laptop. Though the price for this laptop is a little bit high, but it is worth it.

Best Desktop Computers

Written by oneself on 4:13 AM

As the name suggests, a desktop computer is a personal computer that is placed over the desk. Due to its three different parts that are comparatively big in size, the desktop computers are not portable. Both individuals and the corporates make use of desktop PCs. Desktop computers are high on its features. An added benefit of desktop computers is that it can be upgraded and updated very easily. Though its size gives rise to compactness issues, it serves the purpose of all round high configuration computer usage. The motherboard is a key component of the desktop computer. It connects with other computer accessories like the display screen, keyboard, mouse, speakers, printer, DVD-ROM etc to increase its utility and perform variable duties.

The Desktop Computers can be broadly divided into three main types. They include: Desktop computer, Work Stations, and Gaming PCs. The general Desktop computer systems are those that are generally used at home or in the office. Workstations are those computers designed for self operation. They have a mirror hard disk for their back up. In order to run multi user operating systems, they are connected to a local area network (LAN). They are more like a server for many computers, tend to integrate multiple computers. As the name suggests, the gaming computers are specifically built to play computer games. The games can be played at comparatively high resolutions than domestic computers. To give enhanced gaming satisfaction these computers feature extraordinary exteriors and technically advanced components.

When users opt to buy Desktop Computers, each person has a different set of demands. Therefore to deliver the best desktop computer that serves the users needs, mostly desktop computers are separately assembled. Such desktop computers are called the assembled ones. In this type of computers, the best components available in the market are put together to deliver the best desktop computer with the best combinations. However in such cases care should be taken, to ensure that all the added components are compatible with the motherboard configuration. In most cases, drivers are added into the system to support all kinds of accessories.

Desktops can be made use of for different purposes with minor changes in its settings. For eg: it can be attached to powerful speakers and can be switched into a home theater system. By adding an external hard disk, it can be made a huge storage device for all the documentation and entertainment files. Thus a desktop computer can be used as the user wants. The assembled ones are more popular in the local market than the branded ones.

But nevertheless, the branded ones offer more security and good after sales service. So it is upon the user to fix the price when he decides to buy a desktop computer, as an assembly of chic accessories and high configuration could cost a desktop far more than a laptop or a branded desktop computer.

Samsung F480 Tocco Mobile Phone Review - A Touch Of Class In A Touch Screen Mobile Phone

Written by oneself on 5:31 AM

By: Carlson Osbourne

These days, mobile phone users want it all - music, photos, 3G capability and sheer unadulterated style as well. There is nothing wrong with wanting it all, and if you do then you might be interested in this little gem. The Samsung F480 Tocco is one of Samsung's newest offerings. It is sleek, stylish and undoubtedly fashionable, so much so that one reviewer referred to it as "Samsung Armani". It certainly looks the part, but does it walk the walk as well?

Style And Navigation

The Samsung F480 Tocco is one of the phones that make you believe in love at first sight. The black and metallic casing is undoubtedly incredibly sexy, especially considering you can alternate between the original casing and a leather look one that is included in the package. Either way, it is incredibly smooth and sophisticated, especially if you consider the fact that this compact little number is a touch screen phone. The screen is 2.9"and of an incredibly high resolution. This justifies its domination of the handset alone. In terms of the overall outer design of the phone, it is simply flawless.

However, if you have never used a touch screen phone before then it can take come getting used to though so prepare to spend some time learning to get along with it. The interface is not the user-friendliest of navigation systems but it is easier to navigate than the iPhone. Again, it just takes a little time to get use to if you are a little technologically challenged but it does not pose a major problem.

The Feature List

The feature list of the Samsung F480 Tocco is pretty impressive. For starters, there is a 5MP camera that is packed full of little extras. There is face recognition, anti-shake and LED flash so you can take the best possible pictures at any time of day or night. Its only downfall is that direct sunlight will ruin your images because it cannot seem to cope with it. All Samsung camera phones are the same though so it is an issue o the make rather than just of the model.

There is a fantastic music player on board as well. It features a bluetooth A2DP profile, an MP3 player and an FM Radio. The Samsung F480 Tocco actually sounds extremely good and has a music recognition feature that will enhance your experience. The 232MB memory is more than sufficient to hold a good number of tunes on it, but can be boosted by a MicroSD memory card if need be.

The connectively of the Samsung F480 Tocco is good, with GPRS, EDGE, USB, bluetooth and 3G capability, but Wi-Fi is conspicuous by its absence. However, with a feature list as extensive as it is, you cannot fault the phone itself. If you want it all, well almost all, then the Samsung F480 Tocco is for you. It has all of the latest features that come as standard and does them well, better in fact than some of the similar phones out there on the market.

About the Author
If you want to cut some cost off this phone, it's best to grab the best Samsung F480 Tocco cashback deals that is abundantly available online. Buying it online is better because there are a lot of options you can choose from and you can compare O2 mobile phone contracts, so choose wisely

Home Theater System Buying Guide

Written by oneself on 6:14 AM

By: David Rahimi

In order to get a true cinematic experience while watching your favorite movies at home, not only will you need great video, you’ll also need great audio. When deciding on whether or not to get a home theater system, remember that audio is half the movie experience. Having a great sound system while watching a movie will wrap you up in the movie and will allow you to feel as if you are there.

Unfortunately, getting the right home theater system can be a bit confusing at times, especially when you try to build the perfect sound system yourself. Our product specialists usually recommend all-in-one home theater systems to our customers, which take all the confusion out of the equation. When you buy an all-in-one home theater system, all of your speakers will be “voice matched” so one will not offset the other and instead they work together giving you a better overall audio experience.

Below you will find a few things that our product specialists recommend our customers to consider before making a purchasing decision when buying home theater systems.

Power: Depending on the size of the room, and the amount of power you want, you should consider the output of the speakers and the subwoofer to determine the total output (this is usually available in the product specifications). Generally the higher the amount of watts, the more power the system will give you.

DVD Player: If the home theater system is coming with a DVD player, see the DVD Player Buying Guide to see if it fits your needs.

Channels: It is important that you decide upon how many speakers you want in your home theater system. The standard for most surround sound systems is 5.1. The five in 5.1 represents five satellite speakers, and the .1 represents the subwoofer. In addition to the standard 5.1 home theater systems, there is 2.1, 6.1, and even 7.1.

Amplifiers: If you want your movies to sound even better, consider a home theater system with a built-in or integrated amplifier. This will make the sound even more clear and crisp than an ordinary home theater system would.

Size: Consider the size of the home theater system when you are purchasing. Make sure that the speakers fit in the areas that you desire. Most home theater systems have wall-mountable speakers, which can save a lot of table space by allowing you to put the speakers up on a wall instead of having to set it on a table.

Design: Another thing that may be of importance to you, but not necessarily for the quality of the home theater system is the design. If you have a great system but can't stand the appearance of it in your living room, than you probably won't be too happy with it. Though the design of a home theater system is one of the most basic things to look for, many can overlook it because they are often overwhelmed with the product's specifications. Don't let this happen to you.

Definitions:

Watts: A measure of power consumed or dissipated by an electrical component.

What's New in Leopard and Leopard Server

Written by oneself on 5:26 AM

By Nick Pegley

Have you heard about the great features in Mac OS X 10.5? Us either. Now that we think about it, we haven't heard a thing about Apple's latest "Leopard" operating system since the August 2006 World Wide Developers' Conference. Here we'll focus on some of the best features Leopard has to offer.

Spotlight - finds what you're searching for on other Mac computers, including servers working with Mac OS X Leopard Server. For file sharing, just set up network of remote Macs - Spotlight includes the results from the other machines in your search results. That equals one-stop searching with any Leopard computer which has access to the network.

Spotlight provides richer syntax in Leopard, to enable searches for specific sets. New Boolean logic lets you refine search results by entering 'or,' 'and' and 'not' in a search request. You're also able to search using file attributes such as type, keyword, and author.

Desktop Capabilities:

Spaces - Organize your desktop and applications. Even when using Expose to organize things, it can get pretty busy. Spaces lets you split the applications which are running into multiple desktops, with a Web space for for browsers and HTML authoring applications, and a creative area for iWork and iLife. You can name your own areas using this system.

Dashboard - The Web clip is possibly one of the best things about Mac OS X 10.5. Web clips let you to take a part of a webpage and transform it into a widget without the need for coding. The demo illustrates the simplicity of this feature quite well.

Time Machine - Although Apple has Backup already, it has continued on to better with the introduction of Time Machine. At first, Backup does a complete backup of your system to a network sharepoint or external drive. Then, it backs up files which have changed on a periodic basis. By zooming your window back through time, you can retrieve past versions or recently-deleted files.

Server Capabilities:

The sixth release of Apple's Mac OS X Server is Mac OS X Server 10.5 - the first release in several years. Leopard server delivers a on some anticipated features as well as some more unexpected ones:

Teams Directory - This is the built-in Wiki Server which takes the previous blog-server another step.

Spotlight Server - The super-fast content and metadata search engine allows for quick searches through all your business' shared-storage gigabytes. Just consider the the possibilities to create a shared asset server.

iCal Server - This conglomeration of existing standards allows calendering, Open Directory integration, and free-busy checking. It's based on the CalDAV.

There have been rumors that NSA is in the process of revising the security paper on Mac OS X 10.3 in order to accommodate Mac OS X 10.5.

For a long time, the TV industry has dominated the entertainment media. It is now not only a favorite pastime but also play a very important role in communication medium in modern societies. There are now different forms of TV transmission. Conventional broadcast still takes the lead. Cable and satellite programming have found their place but limited only to their niches. The up and coming Internet Free TV On PC is fast gaining popularity and is clearly the one for the future.

Internet television has been around for years without gaining popularity mainly because of limitation in technology. Internet TV is basically TV on Computer, earlier internet and PC limitations in speed and capacity had rendered internet TV not viable. Well, situations are different now. The mega-bps broadband internet and mega-hertz CPUs can more than aptly support internet TV on PC. If desired, the programming can be propagated further to other AV systems. We can even receive Free TV on PC other than the internet if we know how. Computers can become TVs by adding a TV Tuner board or box. With that, we can watch conventional, cable or satellite TV too on our computers. An obvious benefit out of this is that you can multi-task the function of a TV and computer at the same time. Internet TV programming works by capturing free-to-air video streams that are available on the internet. There are 2 kinds. The first one is by discrete websites which are very company or product specific. As such, they are generally limited in both scope and objective. The other kind is standard TV programming. They are basically subscription TV by commercial service providers. These operators gather various FTA TV programming worldwide and provide them for access to their members over the internet through the use of their specialized software packages.

Why pay when you can watch Free TV PC? If you have the time and know-how, you can definitely watch TV on Computer free. Otherwise, the easiest way is turn to commercial membership service providers and access TV programming on the internet with their proprietary software which enables you to bypass all the fuss. It is just a one time payment for lifetime membership.

Millions are already watching free TV PC. It's hard to disregard this form of TV with all its advantages such as PC convenience, thousands of channels, complete genres, no additional hardware or retrofit and so forth. There are many good providers but there are also many scams so research thoroughly before deciding on your pick.

The Many Uses Of Vehicle Tracking Systems

Written by oneself on 6:27 AM

By: John Mahoney

Are you experiencing vehicle tracking problems with your service, delivery, or transportation business? Are you a worried parent that wants to check up on the location of your teen once in a while? With a tracking system, you will be able to monitor the real-time locations and movements of your vehicles at any time.

Vehicle tracking defined

Vehicle tracking is the monitoring of location of a particular vehicle with the use of electronic devices. Usually, an electronic tracking device is installed in the interior of a vehicle which enables the owner or even a 3rd party to get the vehicles’ location. Many systems mix a communications item like a cellphone or a satellite transmitter to pass along the vehicles’ whereabouts to a user far away.

Active and passive tracking compared

Vehicle tracking has several kinds. They are typically classified under "passive" or "active." A passive device stores GPS location, the speed, and the heading. Data is then downloaded later to a reliable computer for the purposes of evaluation. Passive devices also have auto downloads that move data via a wireless system. Active devices, on the other hand, compile the same bits of information but instead of storing the information for download later, they transmit all the data virtually or in actual real-time through the use of a cellular or some networked circle of satellites to a central database.

Uses of tracking systems

Tracking systems are often installed and utilized by various fleet operators. They use the tracking systems to help them in routing, dispatching, and many other functions, including (but not limited to) on-board gathering information and monitoring security. Tracking systems can also be used to collect driving behavior, and for reliable prevention of theft and retrieval. With a GPS device on-board the vehicle, it is very easy for the police to locate the vehicle suspect of being stolen. Some devices can even double as a car alarm.

Tracking systems—a key component of vehicle security layered theory—is recommended strongly by security agencies. The approach states that there should be at least four (4) layers or piles of security grounded on risk management aspects of an exact vehicle. Having a tracking system in your vehicle fulfills one of these layers.

Another use of tracking systems is in the domain of service management in the field. Companies that provide services including routine repair and key maintenance usually have a large amount of employees circulating their service areas at any given time. It is important to plan a field worker’s schedule in order to operate at high levels of efficiency. Vehicle tracking gets in you in the position to make accurate travel time estimations to plan your schedule better.

Salesmen also benefit from vehicle tracking. Mobile salesmen can use their systems to get data on locations in real-time. In unfamiliar locations, they can spot themselves, and even where customers, prospects, and appointments are. The result is an amplified level of productivity, curbed travel time, and increase time spent doing actual business.

It is clear how vehicle tracking can greatly improve the efficiency of your business or the quality of your personal life. What better way to organize the operation your business or home than with an electronic map that shows the location of your vehicles at any point in time.

Hurricane Preparedness: Use Text On Cell Phones During And After Storm

Written by oneself on 5:42 AM

by: Asher Ricard

During Katrina, families felt frustration with the inability to get in touch with loved ones because of overused cellular networks and congestion on the lines. It left many worried and scared as they waited to hear of loved ones safety.

Cell phone companies have spent years upgrading in preparation for the next big storm. However, they are asking those who find themselves in the same situation to take some added precautions. With Gustov approaching, the cell phone companies are asking those in the path when the storm hits or after to text instead of calling. Texting uses less of the network then actual calling does. This will free up the network. I have had countless times that I have seen this with my own phone in a non-emergency situation. There have been times when I couldn’t make or receive calls, but I could text.

Cell phone users should take note that the companies have spent millions to rectify the issues during Katrina so texting is just a tip.

PC World reports Verizon and Sprint Nextel have separately issued statements saying they each have spent about US$140 million in the Gulf states in the aftermath of Katrina. A spokesman said AT&T has spent "hundreds of millions" in the Gulf region, both on wired and wireless infrastructure.

During Katrina, the primary reason for the lack of cell phone ability was because of the lack of power to cell stations. The companies have spent millions upgrading by buying generators to keep the power going during storms.

Which brings up a second tip to cell phone users caught in the storm. Prepare to charge your own cell phone. There are new battery-operated cell phone chargers that cost less then $20. If spending the money on the battery-operated charger is out of the question, remember to pack car adapters.

The cell phone companies have already began to move emergency response teams in place to insure cell phone use is available.

For those using landlines, remember that cordless phones also need power. You may need to get out the old antique phone in order to have phone service.

I know this seems silly to worry about-usage of cell phones. However, if you have a family member in the area, cell phones are necessary to know if you are alive and safe.

Know that the cell phone companies do care and are continuing to improve. Gustav may be on its way, but the cell phone companies are prepared this time and waiting

Information You Receive From a Reverse Cell Phone Finder and Privacy Concerns

Written by oneself on 2:19 PM

By Trevor Kassulke

Do an online search in any of the major Internet search engines, such as Google, Yahoo!, etc., for "reverse cell phone finder." You'll return thousands of results. Do you find that hard to believe? What may be harder to believe is the fact that new reverse cell phone finder directories are going online all the time.

Why would you want to use a reverse cell phone finder? Perhaps you have someone's cell phone number, but want to find out to whom it belongs. Perhaps this person's number keeps appearing on your cell phone. Now, it's quick and easy to find out to whom that cell phone number belongs. You don't have to pay money to hire anyone. You can do it all yourself.

A reverse cell phone finder is easy to use, once you select one. You simply enter a cell phone number into the appropriate location on the form and submit it. Rather quickly, you'll receive a page of information. There are several pieces of information that you'll see right away.

1. City and state. This information tells you where the phone was issued. 2. Phone line type. It will list the line type as cellular. However, this should be obvious to you if you've requested a cell phone lookup.

These pieces of information are available immediately and to anyone who performs a free lookup. Any free reverse cell phone finder will provide only the most basic information. What if you're looking for more?

You need to take the next step and pay a fee. If you want the most recent and accurate information, you'll only get this from a site where payment is required. It's nothing that should worry you, and it's not a scam. The provider needs a source of income so it can pay people to do the research and gather the information for everyone in their database.

Once you pay for your report, there are several additional pieces of information that you'll most likely receive.

1. Registered name of the owner of that cell phone.

2. Address of the registered owner of that cell phone.

3. Cell phone carrier.

4. Age of the cell phone owner.

5. Income and home value.

6. History of addresses.

While the fact that some of this information is available over the Internet may frighten you, it's really not much of a change from regular living.

Some people have tried to argue that selling this information to people puts you in danger. However, all the information in the report is a matter of public record. If people are worried about this time of scam, they're thinking too much. With the use of computers every day now, people should concern themselves with phishing and such.

While the number of reverse cell phone finder directories continues to go up, it can be expected that the number of people using them will go up as well. People just need to remember that the amount of information they'll receive from these reports may vary, and to get the right information, you need to pay.

Asus U3 Series Notebook

Written by oneself on 1:56 PM

By:lapasia

Sneak Peek Asus U3 series notebooks are very compact and stylish notebooks with 13.3" display and a full sized keyboard. Even though it lacks an optical drive, it remains a firm choice and provides a variety of features rarely seen on notebooks of its class.
Design

On the looks front, the Asus U3 is a very classy and elegant. The top of the lid is covered with a glossy black finish which gives it a stylish look. Whereas its inside is covered with a silver keyboard and it has eye-catching chrome highlights. Its fingerprint reader and a leather-like material surrounding the touchpad make the complete package of the laptop very attractive.

Core Information

The very first thing to notice in Asus U3 is the dual graphic setup. With just tapping a small switch on the side frame of the notebook, the U3 gives you the opportunity to select amongst the incorporated Intel graphics, or a more powerful 128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G. This saves a lot of battery and you don't need the battery-hungry NVIDIA chip. But you are looking up-on this laptop as a game-board then you are mistaken this device is not made for playing games.

Cutting Edge Technology

Just above the display, there's a 1.3 megapixel webcam, with headphone and microphone ports to be found on the left side of the frame. The display is crisp and lucid and the LED backlight looks great for multimedia, particularly video substance. Contrast and color is excellent and the glossy finish combined makes Asus U3 a must have laptop.

For wireless connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g and n are provided, in addition to Bluetooth 2.0. The U3 has all the usual ports; three USB 2.0 ports, an ExpressCard slot, S-Video out, a memory card reader and FireWire. Amazingly, ASUS has further added a single HDMI port and an eSATA port which are very useful.

A set of other programs in general which are kept aside for higher end notebooks are built-in HSDPA and an incorporated GPS receiver is present in the Asus U3. However you get an external DVD multi recorder in the sales package. Keep in mind though that you'll only be left with two USB ports when this is attached it does consume battery life drastically. The 6-cell battery returned a more favorable but still not outstanding 2hr 57min. Do note that adjusting power plans in Windows Vista's control panel should result in somewhat better statistics.

Conclusion

The Asus U3 Series Notebook is a good buy but gamers and multimedia enthusiasts are better advised to take a look at the other available models before settling with this Asus U3.

What to Look For in an IP Camera Enclosure

Written by oneself on 1:52 PM

By Wes Fernley

IP camera enclosures help keep your IP camera safe from the elements of weather and vandals who would destroy the camera at any given chance. This article will discuss what to look for when purchasing an IP camera enclosure.

Enclosure Mounting

IP camera enclosures come with various mounting types. These include pole mounts, wall mounts, ceiling mounts and corner mounts. These different types of mounts allow you to install the enclosure in various environments easily and effectively. Some enclosures are sold with mounts, though some are sold separately. This allows you to use the same enclosure in various different applications by purchasing the necessary mountings for each enclosure installation.

Indoor/Outdoor Enclosures

Sometimes a heavy duty enclosure is not required. For some indoor camera installations, a basic plastic enclosure will do just fine. These types of enclosures are more affordable, but offer minimal protection for the IP camera protecting it from minor damage. If the enclosure will be installed outdoors, there are several other aspects that need to be considered. The following are some concerns when installing an outdoor IP camera enclosure.

Environmental Concerns

One main use of outdoor IP camera enclosures is to protect your IP camera from weather that would destroy the camera if unprotected against the elements of rain, snow, heat and cold. When looking for an outdoor IP camera enclosure, examine what type of weather conditions the enclosure and camera will have to withstand. If the enclosure will be in an open area which would allow rain to fall on the top of the enclosure, be sure to purchase an enclosure that is properly sealed to avoid moisture penetrating inside. You will want to make sure the enclosure offers proper airflow for the camera. A completely sealed enclosure with no airflow could potentially overheat your camera.

Heater and blowers are also common components of enclosures. These allow the temperature and airflow of the enclosure to stay within a suitable range for the IP camera. These are ideal for winter and humid summers. Be sure to find out the temperature range of the heater and blower to make sure it meets the required temperature range of the IP camera itself.

Installation

Some enclosures can be a pain to install. It is wise to read over the installation directions before purchasing the enclosure if possible. Some manufacturers offer downloadable manuals or guides for the enclosure installation. From these you will be able to tell how difficult the enclosure installation will be and it will give you a chance to purchase any additional equipment required for installing the enclosure.

Power requirements will also need to be considered as each enclosure requires different power voltages depending on the features including heaters, blowers, built-in camera power supplies, etc.. You will need to make sure what type of power the IP camera also requires and have separate power running to the camera if needed.

Supported IP Cameras

Not all IP cameras are supported by each enclosure. You will need to make sure your camera is fully supported by the enclosure or the IP camera may not mount correctly inside the enclosure. Some mounts are generic however it still is possible that the IP camera is too large for the enclosure causing the enclosure to not seal correctly.

The majority of enclosure manufacturers offer a Supported IP Camera list that you can check to make sure your IP camera is supported. Be sure to check that no additional mounts are required for the camera to be installed in the enclosure.

Some IP camera manufacturers also offer enclosures for their cameras which have been tested to ensure the camera works correctly in the enclosure.

Vandal and Tamper Resistance

Many enclosures offer vandal resistance and tamper proof screws. These enclosures are designed to provide protection when an intruder may attempt to damage the camera in an effort to prevent video from being recorded . If the IP camera enclosure will be within reaching distance, it would be wise to purchase a vandal proof enclosure that will protect the camera damage. Some enclosure manufacturers also provide results from tests done on the enclosure ranging from baseball bat attacks to .22 calibre bullets.

We hope this article gives you some pointers on what to look for when purchasing an IP camera enclosure.

Sony Ericsson W890i vs. Sony Ericsson W910i

Written by oneself on 1:10 PM

By: Caroline Telford

Nothing is more difficult than trying to choose between two excellent mobile phones that both sound absolutely brilliant. Such is the case with the Sony Ericsson W890i and Sony Ericsson W910i. As both of these mobile phones from Sony Ericsson are Walkman phones, the primary focus that they share in common is that of the media player and everything that falls beneath it.

Both of these phones bear unique distinctions in their own way. For instance, the Sony Ericsson W890i is built upon the success of its predecessor, the W880i. With a few upgraded features and a lot of corrections made based on user input concerning the W880i, Sony Ericsson managed to craft into existence and mobile phone to be proud of. On the other hand, the Sony Ericsson W910i is rather different, and does not base itself on anything apart from its own two feet, figuratively speaking.

Comparing the Features of the Sony Ericsson W890i and Sony Ericsson W910i

Most visible in terms of the differences in features is the fact that, for starters, the Sony Ericsson W890i is a candy bar type phone whereas the Sony Ericsson W910i is a slider phone. Both designs have their merits and shortcomings, and appeal to various types of people depending on preference.

One thing that is affected by the difference in mobile phone type however is that of the display screen. By taking advantage of the sliding feature, the Sony Ericsson W910i is able to fit in a 2.4 inch screen of TFT LCD type with 264,144 colours. Of course, the Sony Ericsson W890i offers the same, although it is not an LCD, and is only 2 inches worth of display. Such shortcomings could be ignored; however a big screen size is a pretty big advantage.

In terms of camera quality, the Sony Ericsson W890i is a clear winner. Both models do not have autofocus, or really many camera enhancing features which is normal considering that they in the Walkman instead of Cybershot line. What the W890i does have when compared to the W910i is a 3.2 megapixel camera, against the 2.0 megapixel that the latter model sports. In terms of sheer photographic power, this represents a pretty big difference, and is not easily reconciled for any who intend to use the camera for capturing good quality images.

Finally, internal storage on the Sony Ericsson W910i is slightly better with 35 MB available as opposed to 26 MB. Both models support the Memory Stick Micro however, so a difference of 9 MB does pale in comparison to the 2 GB memory that can be added on.

Very little separates both these mobile phones really. While the W910i has the better screen and slightly more storage, the W890i has instead a much better camera. Ultimately, it may just be the type of phone, i.e. slider or candy bar, which distinguishes one from the other. As mobile media platforms however, both models offer high quality media playback that would be the biggest reason for any user to purchase a unit.

Used Computers (Desktops/Laptops)– What To Look For?

Written by oneself on 3:49 PM

Nowadays desktops and laptops are much more durable and dependable that they were just five years ago. Therefore, buying a used or refurbished computer is becoming more of a trend.

Suppliers replace their computers on average every 6 months and companies frequently upgrade their equipment. Buying one of these used or refurbished computers can save you a lot of money while still using a quite up to date technology. This is even more relevant if you are not a heavy user (i.e. most of your time on a computer is spent online, you may use a few standard applications once in a while). Even modestly priced computers will more than suffice for these types of demand.

Thinking about buying a used or refurbished desktop or laptop?

Buying a computer is not at all an easy job, one has look get detailed information of the available computers of good and reputed brands. One must take into consideration the size, color, configurations, features etc… While your computer should correspond to your personality and lifestyle, you should always keep in mind the reputation of the brand in the market. Brand counts a lot; you can render good service by the manufacturer if your computer is damaged.

Important handy Tips before buying a computer...

* Verify if the brand is reputed and always buy a good reputed brand. Read about customer service experience for that specific computer issues
* Check the warranty/guarantee of the computer (seek out computers which still have warranty/guarantee remaining)
* Compare the price of the new model in the market with what price your buying your used computer, try to get the best bargain. i.e. a two year old computer should not be bought for more than half of its original price.
* Check if the computer is outdated (if out of production it is difficult to get spare parts)
* Is the operating system current (Windows Vista/Windows Xp). Earlier versions probably run slower (windows 2000) and would not be advisable unless your needs are limited (i.e. web surfing, Word...). In any event, stay away with computers running on Windows 98 (granted you don't find many anymore). Also be aware of Windows Vista. Many users are reverting back to XP and that is even more obvious in the corporate world. Why? Vista looks nice but doesn't bring many technical improvements; therefore IT managers are not willing to implement something new when what they have works just fine. Some domestic users just don't like the new way of navigation within the Vista Operating System.
* Check if the configuration of the computer you are buying is good.
* Check the speed of the processor. If possible start the computer and see how long it takes to fully turn on. If its slow just turning on, imagine the lack of speed once you start adding software..

Additional Tips for laptops

* Is the battery life good? (search for the computers with a very good battery backup (2 hours minimum).
* Check for the screen size of the computer your buying and see to it that it is not exceeding the Normal (normally the screen size should be between 15-17). Less than that generally translates in older computers and increases the chance of age failure. Once the screen breaks, you are often better of changing the whole computer.
* Review the connectivity of the computer (Network, USB, Video, Audio…) look to it that it has a good connectivity including wireless
* Check out the weight. Ensure the computer is light enough for you to carry (light 7pounds)
* More details at www.bestlaptopsreviews.com/index.php/Used-Notebooks.html

Where to buy used computers:

* Online auctions. Pro: Often offer the best prices. Cons: Cannot validate the accuracy of the described item. No warranty. Tip 1: Some companies will offer warranty for up to two years, the cost is about 12 of the purchase price. Tip2: Buy from sellers with great feedback, do not hesitate to contact the seller with questions prior to bidding
* Online marketplaces: Pro: Set prices and quantities - Sometime warranty is available. Cons: Prices can vary a lot, do your homework
* Craiglist.com Contacting sellers on Craiglist.com in your local area gives you a chance to meet with the owner and physically test the computer before the purchase

Where to buy refurbished computers:
Refurbished computers can be a great way to buy as they have warranties and are generally sold by manufacturers or companies affiliated with them.

* Manufacturers websites will tell you how to buy directly from them or from their authorized sellers. Pros: Warranty, established companies. Cons: Prices are higher than regular auctions (you pay more for peace of mind)

Buying a used or refurbished computer can be a great way to save money. If you use some of the advice discussed above you can avoid many pitfalls. One last thing concerning laptops, make sure you have a good bag to protect your computer from a fatal accident. Your bag should be big enough for a 17 inch screen computer as it is rapidly becoming the norm, you will probably change your computer within a few years, the bag you may keep a lot longer.

Good Buy!

HTC Touch Diamond – Business or Pleasure?

Written by oneself on 7:50 AM

Nowadays, it is really easy to get in touch with the outside world no matter which part of the world it is that you are in.

With the help of Personal Digital Assistants or PDA's, mobile phones, laptop computers, multimedia players and other nifty devices, you can do your office work from almost anywhere.

This is the reason why devices which are a combination of a PDA and a mobile phone have become popular. Whether you are looking for a device which provides you with a range of business or entertainment applications, the PDA-phone devices should be perfectly suitable for you.

An Overview of the HTC Touch Diamond

HTC stands for High Tech Computer Corporation, and it is a manufacturer of portable devices based in Taiwan. The portable devices that they develop have the Microsoft Windows Mobile platform.

The HTC Touch Diamond was first released in the market June of 2008. The device is considered to be a PDA-mobile phone combination.

First up, here are the specifications of the device. The HTC Touch Diamond has:

- 2.8 inch LCD touchscreen

- 480x640 65-K color VGA TFT display

- 3.2-Megapixel CMOS color built-in camera

- 4 GB internal storage

- 192 MB RAM

- 256 MB internal flash

- 396 hours on standby

- 5.5 hours talk time

HTC Touch Diamond Review

The HTC Diamond runs using the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system. First, here is a quick look at the design of the PDA-mobile phone. The good thing about the HTC Touch Diamond is that it does not follow the trend of overly-wide PDA's.

The dimensions of the PDA-mobile phone are 4x4x0.45 inch, weighing 110 g rams. The device is handy enough. The back cover has a unique 'undulating prism' design.

The front part of the HTC Touch Diamond is made up mainly of the VGA display. Directly below it is the control buttons - which are both depressible and touch-sensitive. There is also a directional pad which doubles as a scroll wheel. All in all, the overall design of the HTC Touch Diamond can be described as "no space wasted".

An Analysis of the Features of the HTC Touch Diamond

The really great features of the HTC Touch Diamond include the following:

- YouTube application

- Opera browser

- TouchFLO 3D interface

The last item, which is the TouchFLO 3D interface, is what makes the HTC Touch Diamond a truly innovative device. You can also quickly scan the menus, and move from one option to another.

For those who are using the HTC Touch Diamond as a business device, there are nifty features like page reorientation from a browser.

You can also view web-based e-mail programs like Gmail as you would from your desktop. YouTube lovers would have a lot to praise about the HTC Touch Diamond.

The performance of the battery is average. You should not forget that the HTC Touch Diamond is also a phone. The voice quality when making calls or using the speaker phone is good. You can also use video calling and hands-free calling.

Lastly, there is a 3.2-Megapixel camera on the back of the PDA-phone which has autofocus. It does not have LED for taking pictures in the dark, though.

For the most part, the HTC Touch Diamond will work smoothly. Just watch out for the batter life and its tendency to slow down due to the TouchFLO 3D interface. Other than that, the HTC Touch Diamond is a good enough device - whether it is for business or entertainment applications.

Unlocking The Apple iPhone 3G

Written by oneself on 7:39 AM

The Apple iPhone 3G was announce in a blaze of glory that eclipsed most of the other smart phones on the market, but it remains to be seen whether Apple has really provided users with exactly what they want. Less than a year after the original iPhone went on sale Apple promises new users of the latest iPhone that they will be given the chance to officially download 3rd party applications through the App store. But how quickly will an unlocked version become available.

The Apple iPhone is an updated smart phone with GPS and a 16 GB memory. The 3G iPhone has a lot to write home about with added support, added GPS, third party applications, and support for a Microsoft Exchange server. Extra 3G support is a massive plus for the iPhone. If the trial speed of data transfer is maintained then users really will be carrying the Internet around in their pocket. At half the price and twice the speed of its forerunners the new 3G versions is sure to be popular.

The new phone is thinner at the edges than the earlier version and slightly thicker in the middle, other measurements remain the same although the 3G is 2grams lighter than its predecessor. It no longer has the recessed headphone jack, which some users found annoying, it is now flush enough for any 3.5mm headphones.

Due to go on sale July the 11th the phone will be on offer in black with 8GB of memory or in black or white with 16GB of memory. Sources suggest that the new iPhone will be available in the UK from Apple, 02 and the Carphone Warehouse.

The 8GB model will be on sale for £99 on a new £30 monthly contract or an existing £35 contract - if you choose the higher tariffs of £45 and £75 a month then you will get the 8GB iPhone free. Prices are quite a bit steeper for the 16GB version with the phone costing £159 on the £30 and £35 tariffs, £59 for the £45 tariff and free on the £75 tariff.

Users will continue to receive unlimited data whatever their tariff although they could find that they will be liable for O2's excessive use policy. On the upside however you will be able to browse over O2's HSDPA network and unlimited access to 9,500 Wi-Fi hotspots through BT Openzone and the Cloud.

Although the addition of 3G and GPS make the iPhone 2.0 attractive it is still without some of the basic features found on much cheaper phones, including multimedia messaging and voice messaging.

The first iPhone was available unlocked soon after its launch but this time it will only be available in store rather than through iTunes. So what of the grey market for iPhones and those that are eager to buy one for the discounted contract price in the hope they can get it unlocked?

Well they might be put off even faster than before. Apple have done their best to ensure that their second generation phone is locked right down. With official applications being controlled tightly by Apple, any non-legitimate contract phone will easily be spotted - or more importantly won't benefit from the full features.

Insure and Smile offers competitive mobile phone insurance for all models of mobile phones including the new Apple 3G iPhone. Insure a mobile for as little as £2.99 a month against theft, breakdown and water damage with 48 hour replacement.

USB was designed to allow many peripherals to be connected using a single standardized interface socket and to improve the plug-and-play capabilities by allowing devices to be connected and disconnected without rebooting the computer (hot swapping). Other convenient features include providing power to low-consumption devices without the need for an external power supply and allowing many devices to be used without requiring manufacturer specific, individual device drivers to be installed. USB is intended to help retire all legacy varieties of serial ports and parallel ports. USB can connect computer peripherals such as computer mouse, keyboards, gamepads and joysticks, and flash drives. For many of those devices USB has become the standard connection method. USB was originally designed for personal computers, but it has become common place on other devices such as PDA’s and video game consoles. As of 2008, there are about 2 billion USB devices in the world Resource Box: We deals with lot more devices like Adapters, Auto Switchboxes, Cables, Card reader, Converters, CPU Fans, Hubs, I/O Cards, Input Devices, IOC-5300, KVM Products, Video.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 Review - 7 Great Reasons to Buy the IdeaPad Y510 Laptop

Written by oneself on 8:34 PM

By Kent Lee

Lenovo fans who are shopping for a well-designed, yet innovative laptop need look no further than the IdeaPad Y510. Equipped with updated styling and superb audio, graphics, and multimedia options, this IdeaPad model is a dream come true. Here are just a few of the great features that make the IdeaPad Y510 worth buying:

  1. Updated Housing Case In the past, users were dissatisfied with the way the keyboard and case always looked smudged with fingerprints. By changing the housing case to one with a rougher woven feel the problems with the fingerprints was easily solved. This new design also updated the classic style in a way that paid homage to the original.
  2. Superb Graphics What the laptop lacks in lightness, it makes up for with it's superb Intel X3100 graphics. The lack of this feature had been a problem in the past.
  3. Monster Hard Drive The included 250GB hard drive is a monster and is capable of handling the computing needs of most users. If you enjoy downloading memory hogging songs and movies, you will probably never need an extra, external hard drive!
  4. Brilliant Display The Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 has a display screen with a glossy finish that provides brilliant color. The 1280x800 pixel screen provides a nice, large view.
  5. Desktop Quality Keyboard The IdeaPad Y510 keyboard provides a wonderful, high-quality feel and an excellent touch. Missing is the horrible bounce that you find with so many other laptop brands. This provides the user with a near desktop-quality keyboard. The individual keys, themselves, have a good size and a solid, cushioned feel.
  6. Great Power Management System The 'novo' switch is another neat feature. The power management system can shift your power options between high, medium, and low with one push of a button! This really creates power savings for the battery life.
  7. Superior Sound System Included with the Y510 is a premium Dolby Home Theater audio system. The superior sound plus the 5 speakers and included subwoofer provides a theater-like sound that is absolutely amazing! It is worth driving to the nearest electronic store just to hear the quality of sound that is produced by these speakers!
A couple of the weak areas of the IdeaPad Y510 include:
  1. Increased Weight

Users will immediately notice the increased weight. The new Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 weighs in at almost 7 pounds yet is still conveniently portable.

  2. No HDMI Hookup

You will not find an HDMI hookup so you cannot connect the IdeaPad Y510 with any HDTV.

  3. Inability To Play High Level Games

Even with the increased graphics, only lower level games can be played. Lenovo is promising to resolve this problem in the near future, however.

  4. Poor Viewing Quality At Vertical Angle

The viewing quality is reduced outside of the horizontal and straight view angles. If you try to view it vertically you do not have a very good picture but how many times do you really need to do this anyway?

Laptop shoppers looking for a laptop that is well-built with a reasonably priced, a sizable hard drive, wonderful multimedia features at a great price won't be disappointed with the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510.

You already know what you want in a laptop. Get the best - the Lenovo Ideapad Y510 - at a terrific price at: http://laptopcomputerbargains.com.

First 4 Internet Sony XCP DRM Vulnerabilities

Written by oneself on 8:32 PM

Technological measures protecting works distributed on Compact Discs have been found to pose unreasonable security risks to consumers personal computers, corporate and government networks and the information infrastructure as a whole. Vulnerabilities inherent in widely distributed CD protection measures create the potential for a frightening range of abuses.

Viruses and Trojan horses are already leveraging these technologies to hide from antivirus programs and system administrators. Exacerbating the unacceptable risks posed by these technological protection measures, is that fact that the uninstallers provided to remove these measures pose additional security risks allowing a malicious web site to hijack a consumer's computer.

You have to be aware of several vulnerabilities regarding the XCP Digital Rights Management (DRM) software by First 4 Internet, which is distributed by some Sony BMG audio CDs. The XCP copy protection software uses "rootkit" technology to hide certain files from the user. This technique can pose a security threat, as malware can take advantage of the ability to hide files. We are aware of malware that is currently using this technique to hide.

One of the uninstallation options provided by Sony also introduces vulnerabilities to a system. Upon submitting a request to uninstall the DRM software, the user will receive via email a link to a Sony BMG web page. This page will attempt to install an ActiveX control when it is displayed in Internet Explorer. This ActiveX control is marked "Safe for scripting," which means that any web page can utilize the control and its methods. Some of the methods provided by this control are dangerous, as they may allow an attacker to download and execute arbitrary code.

First 4 Internet XCP "Software Updater Control" ActiveX control isincorrectly marked "safe for scripting" We recommend the following ways to help prevent the installation of this type of rootkit: Do not run your system with administrative privileges. Without administrative privileges, the XCP DRM software will not install. Use caution when installing software. Do not install software from sources that you do not expect to contain software, such as an audio CD.
