Dell Inspiron 1150 AC Adapter Warranty

12 months warranty

Laptop ac adapter as known as power supply or power brick converts the high voltage AC power from a wall outlet into the low voltage DC power needed for your laptop. The Dell Inspiron 1150 AC Adapter provides power for the laptop and charges the battery. It's very important to use the right Dell ac adapter for your Dell laptop. Typically power supplies are the underlying cause of many of the problems that people face when using a laptop. Most laptop power supplies are proprietary, making the replacement of the unit expensive if one is needed quickly. A short circuit in an external Dell Inspiron 1150 AC Adapter can easily occur as physical damage to laptops are more likely due to their portability. As the laptop ac adapter is regularly coiled and then uncoiled during transportation the flexing of the wiring itself can lead to stress fatigue. Liquid spilled on the laptop keyboard can create any number of problems including a laptop ac adapter failure. While small amounts of spilled liquids might be tolerated larger amounts can cause a variety of Dell Inspiron 1150 AC Adapter problems such as: a short circuit due to the liquid itself, a short circuit created by any dry residue remaining and a power supply failure directly due to corrosion.

The heart of a laptop computer is the battery, which acts as the power source when the laptop is not plugged into an electrical outlet. A charging circuit takes power from the Dell Inspiron 1150 AC Adapter and charges the battery. Should the battery become physically damaged, it can lead to various leakage problems which can be catastrophic to the laptop itself or the external Dell ac adapter. It is always advisable to get the battery repaired or replaced if a visible inspection of the battery shows any sign of leakage.

Not All MP3s Are Created Equal

Written by oneself on 5:03 PM

By: John Dow

Not all MP3 recordings are the same. There are some important factors to consider when creating an MP3 recording or converting from other formats. The MP3 (Mpeg layer 3) was invented to help reduce the file size of music or sound recordings with minimal loss of any quality.

Basically it's all about compressing the files, dropping some of the inaudible data, and the encoding of duplicate data. A good example is comparing a one minute Wave file recording in high quality might take up to 10 Megs of space. The same file when converted to an MP3 only takes about 1 Meg. That's a huge improvement over the size of the files but there will be some loss in data.

There are two basic ways to compress any files. Lossless and Lossable. Lossless is like a zip file that will compress the original and then uncompress an exact match. Lossable compression (used by the MP3 file format) means that it's fairly close to the original but not a perfect match.

MP3 files can be encoded at different bitrates which is measured in Kbps (kilobits per second). You can record MP3 files at either 128 kbps (which is OK quality), or 160 kbps for good quality playback, and 193 kbps for very good quality on most systems. Using the best possible original source can make a big difference in the end result too.

For those with very high end stereo playback systems might want to up the bitrate to 193 Kbps. This increases the amount of data and therefore can increase the amount of detailed sounds in the playback. Of course many people with less than perfect hearing will never notice the difference. And the method you use to playback the recordings will also impact the quality of reproduction of the original.

If you rip (record) a CD song to a Wave file, then convert to MP3; some of the data will be lost. If you record directly off the CD, since there is more data, the quality of the MP3 should be better. The more data, the better quality or playback. It can get pretty technical but there are a couple of basic factors to consider that impact the quality the most.

MP3 encoders employ several techniques to compress the data files:

Perceptual encoding and data compression. Perceptual encoding algorithms determine sounds below the minimal human hearing threshold, usually between 2Khz and 5Khz, and remove that data. Encoders use a psychoacoustic method which duplicates the ability of the human ear to determine which sounds are being masked by the louder sounds and aren't necessary to store.

There are also three basic compression methods that don't address the audio but the method used to store the data. These methods combine common elements and removes any repeated data. It's much more technical but that's the gist of it.

An MP3 cannot match the quality of a properly recorded Wave file since there is a greater amount of compression and some data is eliminated by that process. But the MP3 format was invented to make music files smaller and easier to download from the Internet. The highest quality music files come from either the CD originals, or from AIFF / WAV uncompressed or FLAC / Apple Lossless compressed downloads.

If you want the portability and smaller file size, MP3 files will fill the bill. To get the best quality, use a bitrate of 192 kpbs. If you absolutely need the best quality recording, stick with uncompressed file formats.

How to use wisely the storage space on a Palm PDA

Written by oneself on 9:42 AM

by Joe Keny

Palm device or PDA is more than a simple organizer. Depending on model, a Palm can offer a great variety of functions, from checking email for games and multimedia files. The downside is that storage space is limited and Palm can not handle so many files and applications like a desktop computer. A Palm user therefore must make rational use of limited storage space. Follow these steps to learn to use wisely the storage space on a Palm PDA .

Storage 101

First you want to determine how much free space is available on your PDA. Receive the "Home" screen by clicking the house icon with the stylus. Then tap the clock icon. On the menu that appears, select "Delete. This opens a screen with a counter that indicates the amount of free space on the device screen .

View Delete. Remove the screen displays a list of storage elements and the amount of memory they use. To free memory, select an item from the list and click the "Delete" button. Select the files you do not need or can not do without .

Make use of a file compression utility. If you have recently used programs and files you do not want to delete, can be compressed to a fraction of their original size, so they occupy less storage space when not in use .

Avoid installing programs that do not need . Even if you uninstall later, it still may leave some files on the device .

Wikipedia in third party applications that can optimize and manage storage space. These include programs that remove the bitmap and unnecessary programs that have useless files and databases left over from uninstalling applications .

Buy a memory card. If your Palm can use a memory expansion card, get one. A memory card not only allows you to store more files, but can be used to back up your important data. It is more convenient to backup and restore functions on your Palm with a memory card with a computer.

Technology to the Rescue

Written by oneself on 7:58 AM

By Frank J Thomas

In today's day and age, we have technology all around us. This is a very good thing and a very bad thing. It's very good because some forms of technology can really help us out in our day-to-day tasks. For example, I'm typing of this article using voice recognition software. I find it increases my article writing speed at least threefold. Also as a secondary benefit I have less spelling errors as well as the voice-recognition software corrects my grammar in a lot of cases. So in this case technology is a really great thing.

But there's a dark side to technology as well. I've worked as an information technology manager for many years and have witnessed this phenomenon firsthand. People will think that they can use technology to fix people problems. Unfortunately this is not the case. For example, I was working with a call center that was having problems with its staff that was answering the phones. The staff would spend excessive amounts of time surfing the Internet and not answering phones. I was approached and asked if I could find some way to monitor and restrict Internet access. It was a reasonable request but first I recommended that they talk to their people. I remind them of the fact that performing such an action could cause further resentment by the people in the call center as they would see it as a policing action.

So instead of addressing the issue at hand the solution will only aggravate the current situation. In the end, the manager of the call center did talk to the people and also reminded the people that they were being monitored and there was an expectation of performance within the roles of their position. This simple speech probably cleared up 95% of the problem. Unfortunately the last 5% required more drastic measures. This is just a quick example I've seen this same situation time and time again. People want to use technology to avoid people problems.

So you must always ask yourself, will technology help me here or will cause me more problems because I have a personal problem not a technology problem. On another point, it's good to listen to people when they do bring new technology to you. You'll be amazed what people can find the one hand it's everybody's work life tremendously. Some of the best recommendations that I've seen have come from people worked for me. So taking the time to listen to recommendations by the members of your staff can be extremely beneficial to your organization as a whole.

To conclude, remember that technology can come to the rescue and solve some pretty nasty problems within your organization. But never ever believe that I can fix problems that you have with your people. In this case technology can only escalate the problem at hand.

NVIDIA Graphics Card Overclocking

Written by oneself on 4:25 AM

by Molly Smith

In the P4 era, CPU performance often comes up to our expectation while the video card is complained much more in the process of actual operation and playing 3D games. Then the enthusiasts who seek an increase in the performance of their computers think of overclocking, and today video adapter overclocking is nothing new to us.

Some people may tell that we can use some software such as PowerStrip or NVTweak to execute the graphic card overclocking. Yes, we can make it by loading them, but in my opinion, with its complex function, PowerStrip or NVTweak is a tool for masters-hand, not for all users, especially green hands.

Here, I introduce a very simple way to your NVIDIA Graphics Card overclocking.

No hurry to search and download PowerStrip or NVTweak from the net, the NVIDIA video card driver itself possesses the overclocking feature.

In the previous Detonator drivers, there used to be AGP settings function, the Core and Memory clock adjustment functions, but the functions have been hidden later. Now the commonly used Detonator 40 driver also has such hidden functions, and it is very easy to enable them.

For instance, we open the clock rate Setting item. On the Start menu, click run and input "regedit" press the Enter key then the Registry is open. Find the item "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareNVIDIA CorporationGlobal", and right click "Global" branch, create a new key "NVTweak" (if the "NVTweak" exists, no need to create one). After that, right click "NVTweak", create a new dword key, named "CoolBits". Finally, set the key "CoolBits" as "3", and then you can open the hidden overclocking option of NVIDIA graphic adapter.

If you think opening the Registry is a nuisance, input the below words to a text file editor such as the WordPad built-in Windows.

REGEDIT4 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARENVIDIA CorporationGlobalNvTweak] "CoolBits"=dword: 00000003 The next step is to save this file with reg as its file extension (e.g. nv.reg). Double click nv.reg file then these contents can be run into Registry. What we mentioned above is risky, please be careful with overclocking!

An Introduction To Wireless Computer Speakers

Written by oneself on 4:06 AM

by Andy Zain

If you've ever wished you could get rid of some of the tangled up wires that surround your work area, you'll be happy to hear about wireless computer speakers. With these speakers, you can hook up a transmitter to your computer that sends a sound signal to the speakers. This allows the speakers to play your music without being connected to your computer.

Wireless speakers work by sending an FM radio signal through the transmitter that is connected to the computer to the speakers, which may or may not be located in the same room. The FM signals are not stopped by walls and ceilings, so you are not limited as to where you can place your wireless speakers, except that they cannot be so far away that the signal doesn't reach them. The distance that the signal will travel varies, but most models have a range anywhere from 100 to 300 feet.

Obviously, if you need the speakers to be further away from your computer, you are probably going to have to spend more money to get a model with a stronger transmitter. If you are using your speakers in the same room as your computer, you can settle for a more inexpensive model with a weaker transmitter.

There are wireless stereo speakers available that can work with computers too, but not all models of stereo speakers will be compatible with your computer. If you want to use stereo speakers, it's important to do your research first to make sure they will work because it is often difficult to return electronic items. To be safe, it is a good idea to stick with wireless speakers that were designed to be used with computers.

Wireless computer speakers usually operate at about 900 MHz. This may cause problems such as feedback if you have other electronic items in your home that operate on the same frequency. You should either make sure you are buying speakers that use a different frequency than your cordless phone or that allow you to adjust the frequency. Baby monitors can also cause conflicts with wireless speakers.

Most companies that make wireless speakers manufacture them so that they can use either batteries or an AC adaptor. If you are going to be using your speakers in a location where you will not be able to plug them in, it is important to make sure that the model of speakers you are buying can be operated from batteries.

Your wireless computer speakers can give you the flexibility of being able to use your computer to play music in another part of your home or even outdoors without dragging your computer to the location where you want the music. They can also help free up some of the cord mess that surrounds most computer stations.

Particle Sizing Techniques and Laser Diffraction

Written by oneself on 4:23 AM

Author: Bryn McDonagh

The ability to measure the size of very fine particles is an integral part of many industries today. For every material that goes through a grinding or milling process, the final particle size is usually the primary factor that governs product performance or process efficiency. This is why particle sizing has become essential in areas such as the pharmaceutical industry, foods and beverages, cement and building materials and for manufacturers of chemical compounds for industrial and residential uses.

One of the most popular and widely used particle sizing technologies available today is Laser Diffraction. Laser Diffraction has become so popular because it offers a very wide dynamic range; it can be applied to liquid suspensions, dry substances and aerosols and provides a very rapid and reliable measurement process.

The goal of all particle sizing technologies is to provide a systematic and reliable measurement for a range of different sized particles. However it is important to understand that there is a wide range of particle sizing technologies available and no one technology is suitable for every job. Each measurement technology has its own advantages and each is often best suited to specific industries or applications.

It is also important to understand that different measurement technologies can often give different particle results for the same sample. This is because each measurement technique measures a different aspect of the same material.

Sphere Approximations

When reporting particle size, we tend to display a graph showing “particle size” on one axis and “percent of material” on the other axis. However, it is very difficult to describe a multi-dimensional particle using one dimension. In fact there is only one shape that can be described by one dimension, and that is the diameter of a sphere.

For this reason, all particle sizing techniques measure some property of material and then relate this to an “equivalent sphere”.

Some common particle sizing techniques and there reporting methods are as follows:

* Sedimentation techniques – measures the rate at which particles settle in a liquid column and reports the size of a sphere with the same settling rate.
* Sieve technique – measures the mass of material retained on a series of screens and reports the amount of material between spherical hole sizes.
* Aerodynamic sizing technique – measures the behaviour of particles in an airstream and reports the size of a sphere that has the same behaviour.
* Laser diffraction – measures light scattering from a group of particles and reports the size of a sphere that produces the same scattering.

So, with so many different measurement techniques available. The question is: which techniques are the best?

Getting the Answer as Right as Possible

Like most questions in the world of science, the answer has multiple parts. In short, you need to choose the most suitable measurement technology for your product and your process. However, if you had to pick a single technology that can universally applied then it would have to be Laser Diffraction.

Laser diffraction is the best general technique as it can be used with a very wide range of particle sizes and also a very wide range of sample types. Laser diffraction works very well for sprays, dry powders, suspensions and emulsions. The results reported are also displayed in terms of a “volume” distribution, which is the most appropriate description for bulk material properties.

Apart from Laser Diffraction, another technique that is gaining popularity is Image Analysis. Image Analysis is also considered a particle sizing technique, but it does offer one significant difference. It is the only methodology that provides any information on particle “shape”! If particle shape is known to have an influence on product performance, then image analysis may be the most appropriate option.
