Graphics Card: Asus Eah2600xt

Written by oneself on 6:50 AM

By:Santana Bhatnagar

So far Nvidia has been mesmerizing us with its DirectX 10 graphics monsters; but this time around it’s ATI’s turn. The first DirectX 10 card from ATI, the Asus EAH2600XT can be compared to Nvidia’s GeForce 8600 GTS, for it more or less shares the same specifications.

FEATURES

One of the most interesting features of the 2600XT is the lack of an external power connector, due to the 65nm manufacturing process which is why it consumes less power compared to other mainstream graphics cards. Another advantage is its wide heat sink that covers the RAM chips, keeping them and the rest of the card cool and dissipating heat evenly. The EAH2600XT is equipped with 256 MB of DDR3 RAM running at 700 MHz on a 128-bit interface. Its core runs at 800 MHz and comprises 120 unified shaders. The two DVI connectors allow the option for dual display, and the TV-out/S-video connector allows connection to a TV.

PERFORMANCE

The EAH2600XT is a good performer, but when compared to the Nvidia 8600 GTS, it’s clear why no one would go for ATI. The card was tested using an AMD 690G chipset-based motherboard, an Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processor and 2 GB of DDR2-800 RAM working in dual channel mode. Game benchmarks such as Doom 3 and F.E.A.R. were used at resolutions of 1024x768 and 1280x1024, both with and without anti-aliasing. For a mainstream card, it gave pretty decent scores. But when it was compared with the 8600 GTS using the same rig, it was disastrous! The 8600 GTS battered this card without mercy. 3DMark was tried on Windows XP as well as Windows Vista. The card couldn’t run this test on either of the operating systems, but this cannot be pinned down to a problem with the card, the drivers, or 3DMark itself.

VERDICT

Investing in a graphics card is something we don’t do very often, and at the end of the day we want our money’s worth, right? It’s simple; when the Nvidia 8600 GTS is available with a negligible difference in price, there is no reason for someone to settle for the ATI Radeon HD 2600XT.

When You Decide To Uninstall Norton Internet Security

Written by oneself on 7:09 AM

by John Snyder

Unfortunately, if you want to uninstall Norton Internet security and it's an older version chances are its not going to be removed from your add and remove programs. Your computer might uninstall part of it, but not all of it. The reason for this is due to the integration the Norton product actually makes upon the first installation with your operating system. The program will not take system files off usually, so that’s why there are files left pertaining to the application.

In most cases the user is all but forced to simply update or upgrade the application and continue using it, or leave it on their hard drive but disable the program. All this does unfortunately is take up space and is nothing more than annoying. So many people have left posts on the Internet asking for information about completely uninstalling the program but usually don’t get the best responses. If it's done, there are usually certain problems that arise after the fact. This can cause frustration and for most people it can totally mess up their computer to the point that it won’t operate in the right way.

The bottom line to this problem is as stated above. By leaving the program or application installed on your computer and disabling it is the best option. That is, if it came with your operating system and you know its safe and not corrupted from being downloaded from an unknown site.

Although it will take up disk space your computer should run effectively and without much of a problem being encountered. It is because of the integration system used by the type of application that causes it to take out some important system files if you are successful in getting it off of the add and remove programs portion of your computer. I know it will sound crazy but the firewalls play an important problem with why the application causes so many problems even when the firewall is disabled as well. In other words the actual program is not going to stop for many reasons. Because of the fact that it has integrated with your system files and probably has the real time feature which allows it to automatically do file scans and unfortunately hinders you if you don’t like the way it works.

For the most part the Norton Internet Security application is sophisticated in the sense that you can’t seem to get it off of your computer. In fact newer computers often times come with this exact trial version installed already, and it in itself is impossible to delete and uninstall. So imagine the headache if it's not just a trial version.

Touch Screen Computers in Cars

Written by oneself on 7:06 AM

It seems that touch screen technology is upon us now more than ever and is not likely to end any time soon. With the Apple iphone on everyone’s wish list in 2007 to touch screen computer screens, grocery store check outs, banks and even the postal delivery service asking you to kindly sign the touch screen. What is the latest in touch screen technology?

Touch screens have found their way into cars. The GPS system- once seemed to signify a high tech gadget in automobiles is becoming a standard. Now, computers in cars which include GPS systems offer more than just an interactive compass. Computers being built for the next year’s model cars will replace some of the current buttons we have all come accustomed to. Soon, more small screens built in as part of the dashboard or just to the right of the steering wheel won’t provide the shock factor they once used to. Starting in 2009, Volkswagen will be installing computers in all of their new cars, whether people ask for them or not. These computers will be replacing the controls for heating, air conditioning and trip computers all within the car’s own computer. With no physical keyboard necessary, a touchpad keyboard is built within the screen, allowing the driver to touch the screen and control functions by touch. Of course there are several disclaimers addressing the owner and operator of the vehicle to only use the buttons while not driving, bringing up issues of accidents- drivers playing around with controls while they are suppose to be driving.

Other smart function of these little computers is how they are connected. If it looks like several cars with computers inside them are converging in one area over another, the computer may suggest going a different direction in order to avoid traffic congestion.

Who knows where we will find touch screen technology next. We went from having a computer mouse with touch pad technology similar to using a touch screen to laptops with their own touch pad and now touch screens on computers and other screens that let us move things around using strictly our fingertips. Cars are more technical then they have ever been and it takes a lot more skill to be an auto mechanic then it used to. Even though computers on our dashboards may seem like the cool new feature now-perhaps some day we will wonder how we ever drove a car without them.

Replacing toner and ink cartridges the right way

Written by oneself on 8:07 AM

by Steve

What is a "drill" and "fill"?

Exactly what it sounds like - drilling a hole in a toner cartridge and refilling it with toner. A similar process is used to refill ink cartridges with do it yourself ink refill kits. Twotonellc.com does not sell "drill and fill" kits or cartridges. Twotonellc.com toner cartridges are produced by professional engineers and technicians who test cores and components for structural integrity, clean empties to OEM standard, replace major components (such as drums and blades), refill with toner and test again before packaging to ensure a product which meets quality standards.

Twotonellc.com compatible and remanufactured ink cartridges are produced in major ISO 9001, 9002 and similar quality tested manufacturing facilities with state of the art equipment for production of quality compatibles, testing empties to be remanufactured and sophisticated ink filling and refilling equipment. Twotonellc.com quality is why corporations, school districts, local government and U.S. government offices buy twotonellc.com products --again and again.

Using drill and fill toner cartridges and ink cartridges can have severe consequences. Each manufacturer's black ink and toner, and color inks are not the same. By using a one for all toner or ink solution you are risking destruction of your equipment. To fill your $500 printer with an unapproved ink or toner can cause problems with quality and the actual operation of the machine, not to mention the mess of actually filling an empty cartridge. Spill it on your favorite shirt and you've just added to your rag bin.

The ink drill and fills refill your cartridge with is NOT designed to work with the manufacturer's print head technology. Now the idea is great, save money upfront until your $500 machine is ruined and then when you have a meeting and you need to print and your printer is down you need to scramble to get a printer, and hopefully you have $500 to spend for a comparable printer.

Do some research on manufacturers and you will find they DO NOT recommend using drill and fill. The drill and fill ink is NOT designed to work with the manufacturer's print head technology.

Drill and fill is a big risk and can cost you a lot of money in the short and long run. Using remanufactured cartridges give the same quality as a manufacturer's brand, saves you money and will not destroy your imaging equipment (and yes I have seen claims of 80% off toner and ink supplies but look at them - they are drill and fill). There is nothing scientific about drill and fill.

For ten years twotonellc.com has been manufacturing toner cartridges and seen and heard of all kinds of stories and complaints. We've all heard it before but if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.

All twotonellc.com products are fully guaranteed and each cartridge is manufactured precisely to a manufacturer's specific requirement.
