Nothing is more difficult than trying to choose between two excellent mobile phones that both sound absolutely brilliant. Such is the case with the Sony Ericsson W890i and Sony Ericsson W910i. As both of these mobile phones from Sony Ericsson are Walkman phones, the primary focus that they share in common is that of the media player and everything that falls beneath it.

Both of these phones bear unique distinctions in their own way. For instance, the Sony Ericsson W890i is built upon the success of its predecessor, the W880i. With a few upgraded features and a lot of corrections made based on user input concerning the W880i, Sony Ericsson managed to craft into existence and mobile phone to be proud of. On the other hand, the Sony Ericsson W910i is rather different, and does not base itself on anything apart from its own two feet, figuratively speaking.

Comparing the Features of the Sony Ericsson W890i and Sony Ericsson W910i

Most visible in terms of the differences in features is the fact that, for starters, the Sony Ericsson W890i is a candy bar type phone whereas the Sony Ericsson W910i is a slider phone. Both designs have their merits and shortcomings, and appeal to various types of people depending on preference.

One thing that is affected by the difference in mobile phone type however is that of the display screen. By taking advantage of the sliding feature, the Sony Ericsson W910i is able to fit in a 2.4 inch screen of TFT LCD type with 264,144 colours. Of course, the Sony Ericsson W890i offers the same, although it is not an LCD, and is only 2 inches worth of display. Such shortcomings could be ignored; however a big screen size is a pretty big advantage.

In terms of camera quality, the Sony Ericsson W890i is a clear winner. Both models do not have autofocus, or really many camera enhancing features which is normal considering that they in the Walkman instead of Cybershot line. What the W890i does have when compared to the W910i is a 3.2 megapixel camera, against the 2.0 megapixel that the latter model sports. In terms of sheer photographic power, this represents a pretty big difference, and is not easily reconciled for any who intend to use the camera for capturing good quality images.

Finally, internal storage on the Sony Ericsson W910i is slightly better with 35 MB available as opposed to 26 MB. Both models support the Memory Stick Micro however, so a difference of 9 MB does pale in comparison to the 2 GB memory that can be added on.

Very little separates both these mobile phones really. While the W910i has the better screen and slightly more storage, the W890i has instead a much better camera. Ultimately, it may just be the type of phone, i.e. slider or candy bar, which distinguishes one from the other. As mobile media platforms however, both models offer high quality media playback that would be the biggest reason for any user to purchase a unit.

Slim revolution have finally hit the Walkman phones. One of the latest Walkman phone - the Sony Ericsson W880i is their thinnest and lightest offering till date. Sony Ericsson handsets are always known for their all round performance and is said to have one of the best price-utility ratio in the market. Their latest, slim and sexy Walkman phone - the Sony Ericsson W880i, maintain the same level of functionality within its razor slim dimensions. The Sony Ericsson W880i measures barely 9.5 mm in thickness and weighs mere 71 grams - this makes the Sony Ericsson W880i one of the lightest 3G mobile phone around.

The Sony Ericsson W880i is a simple candy-bar shaped handset with a 1.8 inch large TFT based screen that can produce more than 262k vibrant and accurate colours. The handset is currently available in two colour solutions - Flame Black and Steel Silver. The Walkman logo and presence of iconic orange colour in the design schemes of both the variants gives away the handset's immense music playing prowess derived from the on board Walkman Media player v2.0

Being a top class Walkman phone, the Sony Ericsson W880i has little to prove about its music playing capabilities. The upgraded Walkman media player is compatible with almost all popular media formats. One can enjoy his music on the built in loudspeakers, on the standard headphones provided with the kit, any other headset via the handset's 3.5mm audio jack or on a wireless Bluetooth stereo headset. The Sony Ericsson W880i's internal memory pool is about 16 Mb which seems paltry for a music phone with such capabilities. Hence, its manufacturers have included an 1GB external M2 memory card in a standard pack. The 3G handset is capable of making and receiving video calls across supported networks and has a separate VGA camera for that purpose. Primary camera module of the Sony Ericsson W880i is 2.0 megapixel for instant capture and quick share of pictures and videos.
